ASSISTANT CURATOR

Historic Deerfield seeks a dynamic, full-time Assistant Curator whose primary responsibility will be to provide energetic and creative leadership in researching, interpreting, exhibiting, and growing one of the finest collections of New England furniture in the United States. Additional expertise in another area of American fine or decorative arts (such as paintings and works on paper) is a plus. The Assistant Curator will develop, care, and present the furniture collection, with shared corollary responsibilities for other collection areas. The position is responsible for changing exhibitions in the Flynt Center of Early New England Life and the historic house museums; overseeing the display, installation, and interpretation of furniture in the museum’s 18th-and 19th-century historic houses; conducting scholarly research leading to presentations, workshops, programs, and publications for diverse audiences; and participating in the shared daily tasks and responsibilities of the Curatorial Department.

LUCE-AMERICANA CURATORIAL FELLOW

The full-time, one-year position of Luce-Americana Curatorial Fellow will provide support and expertise in researching, interpreting, exhibiting, and growing the museum’s collection of American paintings and works on paper. Historic Deerfield’s collection contains more than 2000 paintings and works on paper.  Under the guidance and supervision of the Curatorial Department Director, the Luce-Americana Curatorial Fellow’s position is responsible for the development, care, and presentation of the paintings and works on paper collection at the museum; creates permanent and rotating exhibitions in the Flynt Center Galleries and within the historic houses; oversees the display, installation, and interpretation of paintings and works on paper in the museum’s 18th-and 19th-century historic houses; conducts scholarly research leading to presentations, workshops, programs, and publications for diverse audiences; and participates in the shared daily tasks and responsibilities of the Curatorial Department.

VISITOR SERVICES ASSOCIATE

Historic Deerfield, a museum of history and decorative arts in Western Massachusetts, seeks Visitor Services Associates (VSAs). VSAs provide exceptional customer service and front-of-house experiences to Historic Deerfield’s visiting public at two separate ticketing sites. VSAs provide orientation information, wayfinding, membership information, and ticket sales to Historic Deerfield’s visitors. VSAs also serve as security for museum collections in gallery settings. Reporting to the Lead Visitor Services Associate, this role is a part-time, in-person, un-benefitted position with a starting wage of $15.00 per hour, 8:45 a.m. to 4:45 p.m., excluding one half hour for lunch. MUSEUM AIDE

Historic Deerfield, a museum of history and decorative arts in Western Massachusetts, seeks Museum Aides. This role provide visitor orientation, basic interpretation, and public supervision in self-guided museum spaces and houses. Museum Aides also support and contribute to Historic Deerfield programming, including group tours, school field trips, public programs, and special events. Anyone interested in history, art, and/or antiques, and who is interested in working with the public, should apply.

Reporting to the Visitor Services Manager, this role is a part-time, seasonal position with a starting hourly wage of $15.00.
