Why Give

JOIN US!

Dedicated to the preservation of Deerfield, Massachusetts and early New England, Historic Deerfield welcomes more than 20,000 visitors, and earns the support of over 1,000 members, friends, corporations, foundations, and public agencies, on a yearly basis.

SUPPORT PRESERVATION.

Many support Historic Deerfield for the period homes preserved as part of a streetscape representing a largely intact record of 18th- and early 19th-century domestic architecture. Others wish to support the preservation of one of the nation’s top half-dozen collections of early American furniture and decorative arts, on display in the museum houses, and in the Flynt Center of Early New England Life and the Henry N. Flynt Silver & Metalware Collection.

SUPPORT SCHOLARSHIP AND GENEALOGICAL RESEARCH.

Scholars and genealogy enthusiasts support Deerfield for its library, a collection of 21,000 volumes and documents supporting Deerfield’s claim to be the best documented small town in the United States.

SUPPORT EDUCATION AND HISTORY PROGRAMMING.

Historic Deerfield offers a wide range of educational programs that invite visitors of all ages to explore history in meaningful and engaging ways. From scholarly symposia and lectures to hands-on family programs and seasonal events, our programs bring the past to life through discovery, creativity, and shared experience. Support from area residents and travelers alike makes it possible to welcome learners, families, and scholars throughout the year. Your generosity helps ensure these programs remain accessible, dynamic, and deeply rooted in place.

SUSTAINING SUPPORT MAKES A LASTING DIFFERENCE

Historic Deerfield thrives because supporters like you make long-term engagement possible. In addition to one-time gifts and annual memberships, many donors choose to give on a sustaining basis, providing dependable, ongoing support that allows us to plan confidently for preservation, programs, and educational initiatives.

Sustaining donors and members help ensure that care for historic houses, collections, and landscapes continues without interruption. By enrolling in automatic giving or renewal, your support carries forward seamlessly—reducing reminders and administrative costs while strengthening Historic Deerfield’s ability to steward this remarkable place for generations to come.
